Story 

The books described the mandaar tree as the mother tree, given its propensity to attract and offer nectar and pollen to the largest number of birds and insects. The myths and legends of yore referred to it as one that granted wishes, possibly because of its ability to nurture. But what drew her to the tree’s large scarlet flowers, which were protected from intruders by prickly spines. It was being of the land, caring for the smallest beings and giving selflessly. But it knew that it also had to protect itself to be capable of this generosity. And that’s a lesson she would carry with her well into her lifetime.

The mul cotton is what we call ‘made in heaven’ at Suta. Known in West Bengal as mul mul, the fabric is buttery soft, flowy and delicately beautiful.
